Gerbil Water Bottle

Gerbil Water Bottles

It is very important that your gerbil has enough water to drink. They can go many days without any water at all but that isn’t healthy for them. It can cause severe damage to their bodies as well as their internal organs. For gerbils that continually don’t have enough water they will die years earlier than those that are well taken care of. One way to ensure your gerbil always has enough water is to use a water bottle.

These will attach to the gerbil cage and they can easily go to the nozzle and drink until they are content. These gerbil bottles are lightweight and the hold enough water for the gerbil to drink out of for days. This is very convenient if you won’t be home for a while as you won’t need to get someone to care for your pet while you are away. This is just one of the many reasons why they are very easy pets to care for.

Some people though just place the water for their gerbil into a feeding dish. Yet with the rapid movements of your pet it could easily get spilled. There is also the risk of the water becoming contaminated by urine. This will result either in your gerbil not drinking it or getting sick from it. You don’t want to deal with either one of these issues though.

If you want your gerbil to live a long and healthy life though you need to make some serious efforts. You need to make sure you buy a good quality water bottle. You also want to make sure it is securely in place. They come in several sizes and you may need to go with a bigger one as your gerbil grows and drinks more. Yet even the larger sized water bottles for them will cost you less than $10.

If you buy a gerbil cage or gerbil kit you may discover that you have a water bottle already supplied with it. Make sure you look at this before you buy an additional one off the shelf. On a regular basis you should be checking to see if the water bottle is securely in place. If the water isn’t disappearing as it should it is a sign that it is clogged or that there may be a health issue with your pet.
